Your Honor season 2 release date: Latest news on Bryan Cranston drama

The life of Michael Desiato (Cranston) was forever changed on the day his son, Adam (Wednesday's Hunter Doohan), accidentally killed a fellow teenager in a hit-and-run collision.

What would have been a terrible tragedy in any case became even more horrifying as it emerged the boy who died was the son of a prominent crime boss, who would certainly be seeking bloody revenge.

Michael goes to extreme lengths to keep his son's crime under wraps, but ultimately those efforts prove fruitless when Adam is gunned down at a party and bleeds out in front of his father.

Cranston said: "Season 1 of Your Honor was all about 'What would you do to protect the life of your child?' And as a father myself, the answer is anything. Everything Michael did – every lie, every crime that he committed – was all toward saving his son."

The Breaking Bad actor said he resembles a "feral animal" in Your Honor season 2, explaining that he lost a considerable amount of weight and grew an enormous beard to portray Michael's deterioration.

"I was thinking about how Michael has changed since the tragedy," continued Cranston. "He's lost everything – his integrity, his friends – he has nothing. He is a completely different person in season 2."

Your Honor season 2 release date

CONFIRMED: Your Honor season 2 launches on Paramount Plus on Friday 3rd February, dropping its first three episodes in a bumper premiere.

The gritty drama will then drop a new episode each week, culminating with episode 10 – the series finale – which is expected to arrive in the UK on Friday 24th March.

Your Honor was initially billed as a Limited Series, but it proved so popular that the drama was renewed for a second season in August 2021 – with it later being confirmed that this would be the show's final outing.

In the US, the first episode of the second run was originally set to debut on Showtime in December, but this premiere was delated to Sunday 15th January 2023 to avoid any disruption caused by the Christmas break.

The first season of Your Honor was broadcast on Sky Atlantic and NOW.

Your Honor season 2 plot

The first season followed judge Michael Desiato as he was forced to make a series of increasingly impossible decisions, showing just how far an honourable person would go to save his son’s life.

Unfortunately, the immoral things he did were rendered pointless when his son was killed soon after in a public shooting, where he was not the intended victim.

With his reputation in tatters and personal relationships destroyed, Michael is now looking at the prospect of prison time or life on the street – but there could yet be a chance to turn things around.

Cranston explained: "I was intrigued by the idea... people do some bad things, does that mean they are eternally bad? Is there a way to have redemption? It's interesting, compelling, dramatic television – and yet it's honest."

The official synopsis (via Showtime) reads: "Bryan Cranston returns as ex-judge Michael Desiato, a man forced to face the wreckage of his former life. Disbarred, disgraced and all but destroyed, nothing can bring him back from the brink until a federal agent coerces him into a scheme to take down the Baxter family.

"Revenge can’t return all he’s lost, but redemption offers a ray of hope. He has a chance to strike a blow against the empire of corruption and vengeance that runs New Orleans, but will it be enough to lay his ghosts to rest?"

Your Honor season 2 cast

Bryan Cranston once again leads the Your Honor cast in season 2, playing disgraced judge Michael Desiato as he faces the consequences for his actions in the first chapter.

Michael Stuhlbarg (The Staircase) and Hope Davis (Succession) return as the Jimmy and Gina Baxter, the leaders of a ruthless crime family operating in New Orleans whose youngest child was killed by Michael's son, Adam.

Jimi Stanton (Greyhound) and Lilli Kay (Yellowstone) also return as Carlo and Fia, the surviving Baxter kids, the latter of whom had a romantic relationship with Adam.

Other returning cast include Isiah Whitlock Jr (The Wire) as politician Charlie Figaro and Andrene Ward-Hammond (61st Street) as rival gang leader Big Mo, while Benjamin Flores Jr (Fear Street) and Keith Machekanyanga (The Rookie) also star.

The season 2 guest cast includes Rosie Perez (The Flight Attendant), Margo Martindale (The Americans), Maura Tierney (The Affair) and Amy Landecker (Transparent).

Hunter Doohan does not return as Adam Desiato following the character's death in season 1, but has found further success in the Wednesday cast on Netflix.
